Dr. Attiq provides antenatal care for both low-risk and complex pregnancies.

Pre-pregnancy counselling:

Before pregnancy, Dr Attiq will provide advice to patients tailored to their specific health profile. Dr Attiq works very closely with patients who have pre-existing health conditions so they can plan their pregnancy in a healthy way.

Pregnancy planning and management:

After referral by your GP, our staff will book your first appointment with Dr. Attiq at 10-12 weeks. During the first appointment, she will conduct a detailed antenatal assessment. Appropriate investigations and an ultrasound will be organised.

You will have regular follow up appointments for pregnancy care. During each appointment, there will be a brief ultrasound to check on foetal wellbeing.

Dr. Attiq will be easily accessible throughout your pregnancy, except when she is operating, on study leave or away for professional development. In that case, another obstetrician will be able to attend to your needs.

If you face an emergency, you can contact our reception staff who will be able to help you. After office hours, you may contact the maternity ward of your delivering hospital where we have experienced midwives available 24/7. They will contact Dr. Attiq, who will give further advice.

Labour and delivery

At 36 weeks, your appointment will include discussions involving options regarding pain relief in labour, timing, mode of delivery and methods of induction of labor. Dr. Attiq resides at a short distance from both delivering hospitals and will be available to attend the delivery on a short notice.

Post-natal care

After delivery, while you are at the hospital, Dr Attiq will visit you daily to check-up on your wellbeing. Before your discharge, you will be given a six-week follow up appointment in the rooms. At your post-natal checkup, we will discuss your post-partum recovery, contraception and advise you regarding any future pregnancies.

Shared Antenatal

You may choose shared antenatal care for your pregnancy. This means that although you do not have a Private Health fund to cover your hospital admission, labour and delivery, you still have your regular antenatal check-ups with Dr Attiq in her rooms during the course of your pregnancy.

Shared Antenatal Care provides you with continuity of care to manage your pregnancy needs with the best evidence-based knowledge under Dr Attiq.

If you are a shared care patient with Dr Attiq and elect to deliver as a public patient at WWBH, you will be covered by Medicare for your hospital admission and looked after by the on-call team of doctors and midwives. Dr Attiq will NOT be present for your delivery or in hospital care.
